Sr. Mechanical CAD Designer


Responsibilities: 
Prepare complex layouts, parts, assemblies and detail drawings for custom cryogenic products and R&D builds.  Process and transform preliminary technical packages into working documents for manufacturing release. Review completed technical packages for accuracy. 

Required Skills: 
  • Associates Degree or Technical Trade School graduate in Cad-based studies
  • Five years+ work related experience.
  • Proficient in using current versions of SolidWorks and AutoCAD, 
  • Ability to provide high throughput of modeling and detailing of technical packages. 
  • Skilled in good drafting practices and techniques outlined in ANSI Standards and publications such as the Global DRM.
  • Solid understanding of engineering practices such as, form fit & function, rules of interchangeability, tolerance stack up analysis
  • Very good understanding of managing SolidWorks files, Workgroup PDM, Enterprise PDM, BOM structures, documentation control and configuration management. 
  • Working knowledge of entering BOM’s into an MRP system. 
  • Practical understanding of:
    Vacuum technology;
    Fabrication techniques
    Welding techniques
    Machining techniques
    Materials

Desired Background:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Cryogenics and Liquid Helium systems design
  • Vibration principles
  • Hands on Machine Shop & Welding Fabricating experience

TIG Welder


We are seeking a heliarc welder with at least 5-10 years experience welding thin gauge stainless steel (0.20-0.030”) and aluminum (0.050”); silver and soft-soldering brass, copper and stainless steel. Applicants must be able to perform their own layout and fitting with a minimum of supervision. Experience in the welding of vacuum equipment is highly desirable.

Ultra-Low Temperature Product Engineer

Janis Research Company is seeking an individual who will be responsible for the hands-on assembly and testing of cryogenic products including helium-3, dilution refrigerator and other cryogenic systems.   Candidates should have all basic knowledge of, and good experience with basic scientific instrumentation skills such as low temperature wiring, low temperature thermometers, mass spectrometer leak detectors and ultra-high vacuum procedures. This position requires a minimum of four years’ experience working with laboratory cryogenic equipment in a research or industrial environment. Solid knowledge and experience on the operations of ultra-low temperature products, such as helium-3 cryostats, dilution refrigerators and superconducting magnet systems is also required. The position will require travel to domestic and international locations for product installation after proper internal training. This is NOT a research position as the technician will be working in a manufacturing environment. Willing to train the right candidate.

Minimum requirements:
BS in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Material science /Physics / Applied Physics

Desirable :
Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/Material science / Physics / Applied Physics
